Control of Substances
Hazardous to Health Act 2002
Under the requirements of the
above Acts, we can provide you with information regarding
the storage, handling, use and potential health hazard
of the following IG Doors product:-
IG FIBREGLASS
DOORS
IG fibreglass doors are constructed
from two glass reinforced polymer skins permanently
bonded to a rigid polyurethane injected core and glued
to timber/PVC stiles and top rail and a polyvinyl-chloride
composite bottom rail. The surface is primed with a
water based base coat. The solid polyurethane core gives
the door thermal and sound insulation properties as
well as excellent dimensional stability. Doors will
not split, bow, warp or crack.
The dust from the cutting or
sanding of the doors may cause respiratory problems
and irritation to eyes with possible skin irritation
due to fibreglass fibres. Suitable personal protective
equipment should be worn, to include mask, glasses and
gloves when sanding or cutting the doors to avoid the
inhalation of dust and skin contact with the fibres.
Doors should be handled with
care and stored in a suitable environment to avoid damage
to the finished product.
The weight of a door unit may
be in excess of 25kg. Suitable handling arrangements
and assessments should be made available to reduce the
risk associated with manual handling.
No individual door component,
or a door unit as a whole, poses a fire hazard during
storage.
Fumes are only a danger if the
door has been involved in a large-scale fire where smoke
and fumes are given off. The products of combustion
will be noxious, containing carbon dioxide, hydrogen
cyanide, acrolene, black smoke and hydrocarbons.
