Building
In Pre-Hung Units |
1. |
Securely
fix pre-hung unit square and plumb
into brick/blockwork coursings. 4
fixing points per jamb are recommended
(see diagram 2) using suitable frame
anchors. |
2. |
Allow brick/blockwork
to set around the frame before removing
the shipping clip and bracings. |
3. |
The door
may be removed by carefully tapping
out the hinge pins. Keep these with
the door which should be stored on
its side to prevent damage to door
bottom seal. Code doors and frames
to ensure proper matching on refitting. |
4. |
Fit lock
into pre-cut position and secure. |
5. |
Face-fix
lever by carefully drilling through
the skin and fastening wood screws
into timber lock block. |
6. |
Fix lock
keep into position. |
7. |
If required,
‘ease’ the door before
painting. |
|
|
Fixing
Pre-Hung Units Into Existing Openings |
1. |
Check that
rough opening is square and plumb. |
2. |
Apply mastic
to the floor slab and to the underside
of the sill. |
3. |
Centre the
unit in the rough opening and hold
in place by placing shims between
the wall and the jambs, making sure
the unit is square and plumb (see
diagram 1). |
4. |
Remove the
shipping clip and bracings to allow
the door to operate. |
5. |
Fix the hinge
jamb to the wall with fixings as shown
in diagram 2 (Fischer Fix frame bolts
or similar are recommended). Secure
top and bottom fixing first. Re-check
that the frame is plumb and square
and adjust the shims between the lock
jamb and the wall if necessary. |
6. |
Starting
at the bottom, fix the lock jamb to
the wall through the rebate. After
fixing at the bottom, check that the
frame has not twisted by trying the
door for contact with the compression
weatherstrip. Adjust jamb position
if required. Fix at remaining positions
(see diagram 2). |
7. |
Fit lock
into pre-cut position and secure. |
8. |
Face-fix
lever by carefully drilling through
the skin and fastening wood screws
into timber lock block. |
9. |
Fix lock
keep into position. |
10. |
If required,
‘ease’ the door before
painting. |
|
|
Installing
PVCu Frames |
| Door
and frame MUST be
fitted as a complete unit.
The sill MUST be
bedded on mastic FULLY SUPPORTED
and LEVEL.
The hinge jamb should be fixed first.
Using a large spirit level ensure
that all jambs are square and plumb.
The door should then be closed against
the lock jamb ensuring that the door
makes FULL CONTACT
against the weatherseal. The jamb
should then be fixed into position.
|
|
NOTE!
Packing MUST be used
between frame and wall around the
fixing positions. This will avoid
the frame becoming distorted. Packing
MUST also be placed
behind the locking keeps between the
frame and wall. Frame fixings should
be made above and below the keeps.
After fixing is completed the door
should be closed against the weatherseal
ensuring it makes FULL CONTACT. |
